Take a look at Lionel Messi’s luxurious life

This is how Lionel Messi spends his money.

The Barcelona legend did well under his old contract but is now looking for a new club after his shock exit was confirmed.

Lionel Messi has built an incredible lifestyle at Barcelona, but now he could be heading elsewhere

Despite a five-year deal initially being agreed after his contract expired at the end of June, LaLiga’s wage restrictions mean the club have released him.

Speculation is rife as to whether Messi will sign for Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, an MLS club or return to Argentina.

But one thing is certain: anyone who wants the Argentine magician will have to shell out a lot of money.

Here’s a look at his incredible lifestyle, which includes a luxury mansion, fancy vacations, plenty of flashy cars, and a slew of hotels, including a new spot in Andorra.

YOUR HOUSE

Overlooking the sea and in a no-fly zone, Messi’s £5.5m Barcelona residence offers a tranquil experience.

Located in the exclusive suburb of Castelldefels, it is the perfect place for the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to reside.

And he found privacy by splashing around in his neighbour’s house, according to his former teammate Ivan Rakitic.

Located 20 kilometres from Camp Nou, Messi’s house has a small football pitch, a swimming pool, an indoor gym and a playground for his three children.

There is also the incredible view of the Balearic Sea to wake up to every day – you won’t find it in Manchester, Paris or London.

His close friend Luiz Suarez used to live nearby, while Philippe Coutinho is still around in case the team needs to report.

PRIVATE JET

If he plans to get somewhere quickly, Messi can use his own private jet which is worth £12m and has his famous number 10 on the tail.

It was manufactured by a company in Argentina and designed for the Messi family with the names of his wife, Antonella, as well as his sons Thiago, Ciro and Mateo on the steps.

It has a number of amazing features, including its own kitchen.

There are two bathrooms and enough seating for 16 people.

Incredibly, the chairs can also be folded up and converted into eight beds, providing maximum comfort.

Messi, however, does not own the plane, but rents it. Still, it will not be cheap.

HOTEL

Since tourism is a huge business in Barcelona (at least before the coronavirus pandemic hit), Messi has invested his money shrewdly.

Like his footballing rival Cristiano Ronaldo, he became a hotelier, buying a £26m hotel in the coastal town of Sitges, about 26 miles from Barcelona.

The four-star Hotel MiM Sitges is just 100 metres from the sea, has 77 rooms, including five junior suites and one suite, and costs around £105 per night during peak season for a standard room.

In addition to that, there is the rooftop Sky Bar which features panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea, as well as a swimming pool.

If you’re looking to relax even further, there’s a high-end spa featuring a sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers, recreational pool, cold-water tub and saltwater pool.

Messi also owns hotels in Ibiza, Mallorca, Baqueira and Andorra.

CARS

Messi could probably afford to send his car collection to his new club when he moves away from Barcelona this summer.

The choice of its motors, said to be worth around £3m, is a £1.5m Pagani Zonda.

He also has a penchant for Maserati, with a £100,000 GranTurismo S and a GranTurismo MC Stradale in his garage.

Messi has also been seen driving a Ferrari F43 Spider worth £173,000.

Although Barcelona’s deal with Audi ended last year, there were no further freebies from the German auto giants.

LUXURY VACATION

When it’s preseason, Messi likes to let his hair down with a breakaway.

But he doesn’t go too far: he often chooses to rent a private yacht and enjoy Ibiza and Formentera.

In 2020, he and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo were joined by their friends Luis Suárez and Cesc Fabregas and their families for a trip around the islands.

They chartered the impressive Seven C charter boat which measures almost 92 feet long and costs £40,000 a week to rent.

Featuring luxurious interiors, the vessel accommodates ten guests in four rooms, including a master suite, a VIP stateroom and two double cabins.

Its spacious terrace area offers plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing, while there is an outdoor bar to quench guests’ thirst.

A similar case occurred this summer when the trio of families returned to Ibiza.

Messi has previously stayed at the luxury Caribbean holiday resort Jumby Bay, where private villas cost £5,000 a night and Sir Paul McCartney once stayed.

THE TRAINING CAMP

In each season up to this one, Messi honed his skills at the modern Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

Since 2009, Barcelona has made this its training ground. It also acts as a multi-purpose sports hall for the club’s other sports teams, such as basketball, futsal and handball.

After training, Messi and company can use the gym, sauna and a large swimming pool, all of which will help them recover.

Costing around £65m, there are also homes where Barcelona’s future prospects are limited.

It is named after Joan Gamper, the founder of the Spanish club.

LOVE OF HIS LIFE

Barcelona shares a special place in the hearts of Messi and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo.

Although they were childhood friends in Rosario, Argentina, Messi and Roccuzzo’s love blossomed in the Spanish city in 2009.
