Ronaldo’s arrival in the UAE was a driving force behind several players moving to the league during the summer transfer window. He continues to try and persuade one of his former Manchester United teammates to join him in this new venture.
While some European-based players have resisted offers from Saudi clubs, despite the substantial financial incentives, many others have seized the opportunity, and more are expected to do so in future transfer windows.
However, it seems unlikely that David de Gea will be making the move to Al Nassr anytime soon. According to a report by 90Min, Ronaldo is making efforts to convince the 32-year-old goalkeeper to join Al Nassr, but De Gea’s preference is to remain in Europe.
The report also suggests that he may wait until January to finalize his plans, which could potentially include retirement if he cannot secure a suitable deal.
This would be a disappointing outcome for a goalkeeper who clearly has many years of professional football ahead of him. However, he may need to adjust his salary expectations, considering that he was earning £375,000 per week at Manchester United (according to Capology), in order to secure a long-term contract.
